Description of Bushnell Medalist Laser Rangefinder

EVERY GOLFER WANTS SPIN, DISTANCE AND PINSEEKER. With its sleek horizontal profile the Medalist is about two things: Lower scores and PinSeeker technology. Quick and natural to the eye, the Medalist acquires flags tucked in the deepest corners of the green despite background clutter that befuddles lesser rangefinders. Wherever evil lurks anywhere on the course, the Medalist with PinSeeker provides you with the information you want, to make the shot you need.
Compact in size but loaded with powerful rangefinding features, the Bushnell Medalist sets a new standard in a complete rangefinder package. Like its predecessor--the PinSeeker 1500--the Medalist is equipped with PinSeeker technology to combine pinpoint accuracy and consistency enabling you to range up to 250 yards (±1 yard) to the flag without the use of reflectors.

Designed exclusively with the bottom of the cup in mind, Bushnell's Pinseeker mode allows easy acquisition of the flag without inadvertently capturing background target distances. When more than one object is acquired, the closer of the two objects is shown on the LCD screen.

Powered by a 9-volt battery, the lightweight Medalist boasts a 4x magnification and features a rubber armoring, making it easy to grip. It also comes with a premium carrying case. Weighing just 9 ounces, the Medalist measures 1.7 x 4.5 x 3.8 inches in size and is ready to be used right out-of-the-box, allowing it to be played at 100 percent of the courses around the world. The Medalist is legal for tournament play and for posting of scores for handicap purposes. Other features include distance readings in both yards and meters and standard SCAN mode.

Targeting Modes

  • SCAN: Allows you to pan across the landscape while viewing a continuously updated LCD display of the distances between you and the targets you scan.
  • Rain: Compensates for precipitation to guarantee an accurate distance measurement through rain or snow.
  • Reflector: Increases the maximum measurement range for most highly reflective objects.

How a Laser Rangefinder Works
Bushnell's Yardage Pro rangefinders use an invisible, eye-safe Class 1 Laser beam (as classified by the FDA) which is "bounced" off distant objects with the press of a button. Then, the rangefinder's high-speed digital clock measures the time it took for a laser beam to reach a target and return to the unit. Next, using advanced digital electronics, the rangefinder instantly calculates the distance within ±1 yard and shows the range in either yards or meters on a through-the-lens LCD Display. The entire process is so fast that less than a second elapses between the time you press the button to generate a laser beam to the time the exact range to your target is displayed.

Sports reviews of Bushnell Medalist Laser Rangefinder

Customer Review: Perfect for me...
Sport shop rating: 5 Stars

I use it only for golf. So, 4 power to 300 yards is all I need. I have used a friend's 6 power and could not consistently hold it
steady, especially in wind-frustrating. Did not have any problem holding this one steady.

Have only used it on one golf course in Florida a couple of weeks ago, without prisms on flags (though for 5 rounds), and it was very
quick to give a reading. Almost instantly. I had to be careful when pressing the button to lock in the pin that I wasn't focused on
a spot in front of the green or a tree behind it. This happened a bunch of times-realized I was moving the rangefinder slightly as I
was pressing the button.

One piece of advice-put the battery into the slot, then slip attaching wired cover under one side, connect one side then the other.
(The opening is smaller than the attaching cover).

Overall, could not be happier with it-small, lightweight, accurate, fast, easy to hold steady.

Customer Review: Bushnell Medalist Pinseeker is awesome!
Sport shop rating: 5 Stars

I purchased the Bushnell Medalist Pinseeker and love it! It is nice and light, uses a single 9 volt battery, which is nice. No charger required so I will just keep a spare battery in my bag. So simple to use, press the power button center the circle on your target and press the button for a second and bam you have your yardage. I currently have a Sky Caddie 2.5 GPS rangefinder and had an earlier model before. The nice part about the Bushnell rangefinder is that you can target in anything on the course not just the yardages that Sky Caddie has entered, you don't have to connect to a pc and download course info and of course there is no annual fee. If you don't mind those things and like a small gps that you can wear on your belt get a Sky Caddie, if you do, get yourself a Bushnell Medalist!

Customer Review: Simple to use
Sport shop rating: 5 Stars

After researching GPS and range finder products I found that a range finder was the best price for the value. There is no annual, set up, or new course fees. The metalist is simple and accurate and can be use instantly on any course throughout the world. I don't play many differant courses, but I know I can use it anywhere. Have now played several rounds and have found the metalist to be accurate within a couple of yards. My buddies have GPS units which show front, back and middle of greens, but I can find the flag instantly. Very please and has given me more confidence when selecting a club. Don't forget to factor in green elevation and wind strength and direction. No unit tells you these factors.

Customer Review: Works as expected
Sport shop rating: 5 Stars

I thought I was spoiled by playing at a course with a GPS on the carts, but the pinseeker has been an added pleasure. It's easy to use. Even if your shaking, you'll still get an accurate rating, so someone who is elderly shouldn't have the complaints that I've seen over the years. The advantage this has over the GPS is it gives the exact measurement to the pin, not to the front, middle and rear of the green. Ideally, having both sets of information would be great, but given the choice, the pin measurement is more beneficial. It also works in close whereas the GPS turns off very close and you can't drive on all fairways, especially near the greens, so you can get more consistent with your short game.

Customer Review: Great tool for your bag!
Sport shop rating: 5 Stars

I've owned this product for a few months now and have a pretty good feel for it. It's very easy to use and set up. My friends always want to use it to double check against their GPS distances. Very simple to sight and range, however some people may have problems with shaky hands because of the zoom, but I've gotten used to it and just hold my breath or brace it. Multiple shots at the target create consistent results. The carrying pouch that it comes with looks great and clips to your bag. The battery door issue really isn't as bad as people make it out to be. I don't mess around with mine and it stays put in its locked position. Overall great product for courses that don't have GPS.
