I am not a canopy aficionado, however I take this canopy camping all the time. My friend started with two of them years ago and we set them up side by side and it saved out butts from the heat on at least two camping trips. For the most recent camping trip I bought one and a friend brought another, so now we had four set in a square covering our camping area. They are good enough that we are talking about buying more and getting accessories.
These even held up under extreme wind conditions. On one trip in the South Sierras this year the winds were ferocious and almost blew the canopies away (they are pretty light weight). once we staked the canopies to the ground they did not budge or even threaten to budge. The winds were strong enough that my tent laid down on itself during the gusts (I woke to find my face being smacked by the ceiling of my 5 man 6'5" tall dome tent) yet the canopies held, I was impressed. Let me tell you, the first thing I did the next morning was deploy my tent guy lines which I have never had to do.
These canopies are light weight and a piece of cake to set up with two people. I have not tried setting them up with one person however I believe that it would be fairly easy if not a tad challenging.
Are these top of the line? No
are there better models? yes
can you beat these for the price? probably not...
I did not buy mine on amazon, I had a killer deal ($59) at a sporting goods store (big 5), look for these kinds of deals and you will find a good product at a good price for most all your shade needs.
