I just got finished assembling the Bowflex 3.1 Adjustable Bench and came away impressed with both the ease of assembly and great construction. I am a 61-year old lady and I had it together in about 45 minutes with no outside help. Instructions were detailed, holes were all pre-drilled in the correct places, and critical-sized Allen wrenches were included in the hardware package. It was boxed well, and there were no tears in the vinyl cover, as other reviews have mentioned, although a small area on the red portion of the cushion was flattened and "smushed" and not sure if this will work out with time. The box arrived with minimal damage in record time (4 shipping days) in time to have a bow on it for Christmas.
The bench has plenty of adjustment for the type of dumbell exercises that we plan on and appears exceptionally well-made. The rollers on the base make it easy to move around and the bench is very stable. I am pleased with all aspects of this purchase. The price with free shipping from Amazon was less expensive than the "on-sale price" from our local big box sporting goods store, even without figuring in sales tax and a 30 mile round-trip to go pick it up.

When you put this bench together, if you have assembled other benches, the first thing you will notice is that it is a walk in the park to put this together level. The metal is of high quality and very scratch resistant. The cushions and material hold there comfort for a long time running. This is my second BowFlex SelectTech bench. I had my other one for over a year and when my roommate went off to his military career, he took the bench with him and I immediately purchased a replacement. When your holding hundreds of pounds over your head, you don't want to fear your bench will collapse beneath you, and it wont. The build and design on this product is solid, each adjustable angle is just as solid as well. There is also an attachment, not included in photograph, that comes with the product. It is a leg attachment that goes on near the seat that lets you lock your legs in for extra stability, but the product can be used without it. I would highly recommend this product to anyone looking for a reliable bench to beef up there home gym.

This will not be as technical as the other reviews but here it goes...
When it was delivered, dispite its weight, was in very good condition. The box was not mangled in any way.
Unpacking was very easy. The box was not held together with glue. Once removing the shipping straps, the top came off with easy.
There are very few parts so taking them out, arranging them, and taking inventory was a snap.
The only negative I found was that tiny alan wrench they give to build it with, and I am sure it does the trick for most people but I used my own which has a handle and found it much easier to assemble. But then again I really did not expect to get a tool set with the bench. :)
I had it built in about 40 minutes and went right to testing. The construction of the bench makes you feel safe. Every component is heavy duty and no weak point where you adjust the head.
It has been in use for two weeks now and I don't think I could be happier.

I recently have been dying to get back into my gym routine. Having moved up to New England, the closest gym location wasn't as close as I had hoped with the snow and all. So I have been doing some crazy googling about the Bowflex SelecTech products. I chanced it and called Bowflex sales department, and I was able to purchase the 3.1 Weight Bench, 552 dumbell set, and the weight stand for the shown discounted price with free shipping on all items! I made sure to speak with the supervisor and confirm with me that the shipping has been waived. Ended up costing me $730.00USD for all 3 products. The bench is big, wide, sturdy and heavy. It definitely feels like a gym-quality equipment, if not better (but better looking for sure). I bought it refurbished to save $20, and I am glad to find out that my bench looks brand new.
The equipment is not exactly easy to assemble because the screws require a lot of strength to tighten. But that is for a good reason. Once assembled, the bench stuck on the ground and shows no shakiness or looseness. I assembled the bench myself, but I would recommend two people doing it together.
