I've had these dumbbells for a few years now and they have been great, but I started hearing a little metal tinkling sound in one, like something really small had come loose inside. I found a little screw that holds the plastic name plate on was coming out and apparently whatever it screws into had come loose inside. By the way, I have never dropped or abused these dumbbells at any time. I called Bowflex to ask how I could fix it and they said I would have to buy a whole new handle - which is everything except the weight plates - over $60 with shipping. You have to be kidding me! They're telling me the whole thing has to be thrown out because one tiny screw is loose? That's the problem with America...we've become a disposable society. These weights are great when they are working, but unrepairable.Customer Review: Good investment

These dumbbells are everything you want if you are looking for a set of dumbbells that will not take lots of space in your house. I like them because I can lift heavy and adjust to a light weight quickly without having to look for that number on the dumbbell to see if I picked up the right weight.
I also like the ergonomic chrome and rubber handle to ensure a secure grip. The plates have a warranty of 5 years, I just wish they offered the same warranty on the dialing mechanism as well (2 years). But as long as you are careful with them and do not bang or drop them they should last a while.
They come with a workout video that gives you plenty of exercises you can do without buying one of Bowflex's home gyms $$$.
Good investment.

I LOVE these dumbells!!! I got them on sale and they were the best buy I ever made. I have limited space, so these are perfect for my little condo. You get a range in each dumbell of 5 to 52.5 lbs all in one little 10"x12" space. I'm a sucker for design and these dumbells are down right sexy. I've heard complaints from bodybuilders of the SelectTech's limited weight capacity, as compared to Power Blocks which are expandable, but for me as a woman, these are perfect. I can't imagine ever being able to lift more than 50lbs per dumbell, and for heavier weighted exercises I use barbells. This might be a concern for men or stronger women, but if you are satisfied with a max weight of 52.5 lbs, these are worth every penny.Customer Review: Fitness Freak

I have had these dumbbells for nearly a year now and I am still using them. Unlike other fitness equipment that I have purchased, my Bowflex SelectTech 552 Dumbbells are not just expensive paperweights collecting dust. I have a schedule that I have been sticking too and have been getting the desired results. I always wanted to have free weight but never had the room to store a rack of dumbbells or the patients to switch plates during exercises. The Bowflex SelectTech 552 Dumbbells are so easy to use and have a great range of weight. I can go from chest to shoulders to back with no problem. They can sometime be a little unwieldy due to the length of the bar but this is easy to adjust to and a small price to pay.Customer Review: Well designed, Space Saver, and Transportable

Unless you are a serious body builder or power lifter, this is the perfect free weight set for someone seeking a modest growth in strenth, and an outstanding increase in muscular endurance. I have had this set for 8 months now and have not been disappointed. It is durable, but it is as much a weight set as it is a weight-technological advancement and should be handled as such (don't dropped tehm to the floor). This is covered in the DVD that comes with the set.
I took this set with me when I lived in a hotel for two months while away for my work. It was easily transported and saved space. For a person who likes to exercise and cross train, this is the perfect "machine."
