After reading some of the reviews, I was concerned that putting this together would be a pain, but I entered cautiously, making sure to keep the 2.5 inch bolts separated from the 2.75 inch bolts and the 3 inch bolts, then just followed the directions making sure to use the correct pieces. Construction really took only about 45 minutes. I am one who usually does not follow directions during assembly, or at least uses them as a last resort, but after reading the reviews, I decided to follow them this time and construction was a breeze. Don't let the other reviews scare you away.
Now for the stands...Very solid, perfect height. You don't want to have to pick 50 pounds off the floor, so these stands are essential to save your back. I am tall (6'3"), and the height is perfect. I have no worries that the stand will last forever. The weights are awesome too! If you are serious about working out, invest in this and you will not regret it.

I am not sure what happened to the instruction for many peoiple below, but our rack arrived within 2 days (I love Amazon Prime) and I built it last night in less than 30 minutes.
Instructions were idiot simple (which is good for me!) very clear, and all items were neatly packaged and labled (Right and Left).
I used a 9/16 ratchet and the supplied allen wrnech and had everything buttoned up very quickly and easily.
I have to be honest, I continue to be blown away by the quality and construction of Bowflex equipment. We now have a paid of dumbells, and a Selectech Bench and I have been amazed at how solid and good looking everything is.
I am a reasonably serious weekend warrior, and at 275 pounds, I am not gentle on anything (treadmill, eliptical, benches). I am CERTAIN the Bowflex items we have added in the past few months will last a lifetime.

I purchased the stand after having the 552 dumbbells for a week. I am doing P90X and found it difficult keeping up with the video with the dumbbells on the floor (and also worry about lifting them off the floor and hurting my back). The stand makes it much easier and quicker to change the weight values and get back into position. The stand is really at the perfect height for me (I am 5'10" tall). I am impressed with how solid and sturdy the thing is. It doesn't budge when you drop the dumbbells on it.
I am the type of person who hates putting things together. I must say, in all honesty, it was very easy to put together. I read a few reviews before I ordered it and was dreading the process. I felt like the instructions were clear and all the holes were properly drilled. It took me about an hour to assemble it.

In the past few weeks I have assembled two Rowing Machines and the Bowflex 5.1 Bench and the instructions for this product are no better, no worse than any other instructions I've viewed recently. In fact, I thought putting the stand together was pretty self-explanatory even without the instructions. I assembled the stand in a little over an hour with a few quick glances at the instruction book because I HATE reading instructions. It did take a little muscle to tighten the screws and bolts, but then, that is why I wanted the Dumbbell Set in the first place. That being said, I think it's a great product, well made and sturdy. I have to admit after reading the other reviews I was put off at the thought of having to struggle to put another piece of equiptment together, but, it was really a breeze! I really like this stand. I read several reviews warning about how bad the assembly instructions are. Those reviews are absolutely accurate. However, I took every single piece and part out of the box and lined them up on my floor BEFORE I started the assembly process. That one little trick made it easy to identify the CORRECT bolt to use and assembly was pretty quick. The stands are really useful for me. I workout to the point of exhaustion, and even having to pick up and set down a full set of weights by the end of my workout risks injury to my back. That is not a problem with this stand. I paid around $100 for the stand. If you watch closely, you can occassionally find sales where Selectech will include the stand when you purchase their weights. Even if you can't get a package deal, however, I still recommend the stand.
