Description of Bosu Balance Trainer Home VersionThis version is not intended for commercial use. Product warranty is voided if used for commercial purposes. From the elite athlete to kids to weekend warriors trying to stay in shape, BOSUŽ Balance Trainer helps to strengthen and coordinate your body including the muscles that you don't see. Appropriate for everyone from elite athletes to kids to weekend warriors trying to stay in shape, the Bosu balance trainer helps you strengthen and coordinate several major muscle groups, including the muscles you don't see. The Bosu targets your core muscles--the muscles around your abdominal and back area--while you perform a host of different workouts, from squats and bicep curls to lateral shoulder raises and hip extensions. As a result, you not only gain strength, trim, and tone, but also improve your balance and coordination along the way. In addition, Bosu training helps strengthen the mind, with thoughtful movement that requires the participant to not only be physically involved, but also "here and present" with the mind fully engaged. By combining physical and mental focus, Bosu training will boost your performance across a wide continuum of activities, including sports, recreation, and daily tasks. The Bosu home trainer comes with a workout series on a single DVD to help get you fit, along with a foot pump and exercise manual. The DVD workout series starts with the Calorie Combustion Workout, which combines step routines with sport-specific moves to get your heart rate up and your muscles challenged. The Long & Lean Workout follows a different formula, with master trainer Chalene Johnson leading you through Pilates-inspired movements that emphasize total body toning, so you feel stronger, taller, and younger. Finally, the Absolutely Abs Workout concludes the Bosu package. In this final workout, master motivator Greg Cook unlocks the Bosu dynamics to maximize your range of motion and take your ab workouts to the next level.
Sports reviews of Bosu Balance Trainer Home VersionCustomer Review: Excellent Workout Sport shop rating: 5 Stars
I took a BOSU workout class, and found it was a great workout - definitely much more challenging then it looks.
My instructor does a SCULPTING section using weights (while sitting or kneeling on bosu), lunges/squats, and push-up type moves...all of these were incredibly tough because of the bosu makes you wobble and forces you to use a lot of extra muscles to stay balanced.
My instructor also does a CARDIO section using Step Aerobics type moves, and this was really difficult because of the wobble factor. (It is kind of like when you walk around in sand - the surface you step on gives -- but not exactly). I think this could be used by variety of users: beginers/interm can take smaller/more controlled steps, while advanced users can do large motions, jumps, etc.
I also like doing ABS on a bosu cause it really makes you feel the burn more (including lower abs!!), and also depending on how you lay on the bosu you can get a wider range of motion than doing crunches on a flat floor.
Customer Review: Maybe I am not using it to the max... Sport shop rating: 5 Stars
The reason why I bought this balance trainer is to strengthen my ankles. I hike a lot and last year alone; I sprained my ankles like 10+ times on the John Muir Trail. After using it 3X/week for almost 2 months now, I have to say my ankles are 'strengthening...'. I can't wait for my next big hike now!
In addition, not only that I don't sprain my ankles anymore on uneven trail while running, my balance during golf swing has also improved. I have never been more confidence addressing the golf ball now.
Try this to increase the intensity; stand on one left and bend your knee(this is tougher than the normal one leg stand on the ball). Do not perform this activity if you cannot balance yourself with a a STRAIGHT leg first.
I use floor mat to do Pilate which is sufficient for a novice like me. Hence, I don't use this balance trainer for pilate.
Customer Review: Recommended by my Physiotherapist. Sport shop rating: 5 Stars
I love my BOSU. The Pump worked just fine, although it would have been nice if I could have used the electric pump I use for my air mattresses. I also would have wished for a valve that wouldn't have let the air out between removing the pump and inserting the plug. It took me 4 tries before I got it to stay inflated to the suggested 10". I am 70 and not as quick as you younger people. I have had it for a month now, and when not in use it gets stored on it's side wherever I can fine a spot out of the way in my small apt., with no problems. I got the plain one, but on hind sight I would recommend the one with the support bar for us older folks. I also like the fact that the DVD gives you so many different exercises and the ability to work up from very beginner to more advanced.
I believe it was money well spent. I had 2 day free shipping and it arrived right on time.
Customer Review: Will definitely improve your balance! Sport shop rating: 5 Stars
I was introduced to this at my gym with my trainer and decided I needed one for home use. This product is so versatile! I compared this "home" version with other versions available and can't see a difference between this one and the professional version. I thought maybe the prof. version was more heavy-duty, but if you compare the measurements and weight of the product, they are exactly the same. So I went with the less expensive "home" version and couldn't be happier. I weigh in the 240's and this product supports me just fine.
Be sure to flip the thing over and use it with the rounded side down too. Put one foot in the center and bend the other leg for an excellent balance exercise. The little book that comes with it never mentions any exercises for the rounded side down and I don't know why not? BOSU means "Both Sides Up". Great product.
Customer Review: Incredible piece of equipment Sport shop rating: 5 Stars
I don't own one ... yet! But as with the other reviewer, I use it regularly at the gym. I had seen these advertised and thought they were just another silly creation to generate fitness sales from a naive public. My personal trainer set one in front of me a few weeks ago and I laughed. Fifteen minutes later I was panting while saying that I had to have one at home. Perform your simplest exercises on top of a bosu ball and you'll feel the difference. The variety of ways it can be used is pretty impressive for such a simple design -- right-side up, upside-down, stand on it, sit on it, crunches, lifts, think of a move and try it on a bosu ball. Great way to improve balance, core strength, and intensify your workouts. Can't wait to purchase one for my own use at home and also to see how the kids turn playtime into fitness time.
