If you have an old style road bike or mountain bike with threads on the rear dropouts, this rack is sturdy and acts as a rear fender. However, the flat aluminum sheet prevents the use of a typical bungee cord because the space is too narrow. You'll need to use the baby bungees to hold your lock or sleeping bag on top of this rack. I have carried adults on this rack for short rides at low speeds and it held up well with minimal sway. I use it in a three-point configuration (attached to the brake caliper bolt). This rack has few available adjustments, so it probably would not work well with a newer road bike with small rear stays and short wheel base because your feet would hit the saddle bags.
