Sports reviews of Bike Peddler Take A Look Cycling Eyeglass Mirror (Original)Customer Review: Best in class Sport shop rating: 5 Stars
There is a good reason that this item is highly rated by most.
I am an avid cyclist and have used at least a half a dozen different mirrors in my search for a view of the road behind me.
This is the ONLY one that I would recommend. I wish that I had found this before purchasing a multitude of inferior plastic models.
The materials are all of a high quality.
I'm not a fan of handlebar mounted mirrors because they all seem to be too adversely effected by vibration from the bike/road, making it difficult to get a clear image of what's behind you.
This design is ideal for me as I always wear glasses when I ride. A little bit of adjustment when I start out is all that's necessary unless I bump it while wiping sweat from my forehead.
The one tip that I would give is to move it as far forward on the arm of your glasses as possible. The farther away from your eyeball the better.
It causes less strain on the eye while looking in the mirror and makes adjustment easier for the perfect view.
Customer Review: Take A Look Cyclist Eyeglass Mirror Sport shop rating: 5 Stars
I recently started riding a bike for exercise. After several days I was increasingly uncomfortable with my inability to see what was behind me. It's hard to turn my head around while trying to remain stable and keep an eye on the road ahead. I bought a clip-on eyeglass mirror from the bike shop where I'd bought the bike. It has a round mirror and a rather thick plastic stem to clip onto my eyeglasses. It worked OK, but was hard to clip onto the glasses and got out of adjustment easily. I did an Internet search for eyeglass mirrors and came across the Take A Look mirror. The many reviews praised it highly. After using it for several weeks, I agree completely. Its brass construction is stiffer and thinner, making it easy to clip onto eyeglasses, and the adjustments, while easy to make, remain stable. Also, the field of view is greater with the rectangular mirror. I'm keeping the plastic mirror as a backup, but if anything happens to the Take A Look mirror, I'm reordering as fast as possible.
Customer Review: no more blurry cars! Sport shop rating: 5 Stars
I ride a recumbent bike, and as any recumbent rider knows, a mirror is essential unless you want to ride off the road when you turn around to look behind you. I had been using a Cateye bar-end mirror, and it was okay, but the objects in the mirror were always blurry because of the road vibrations transmitted through the bike to the mirror. Well guess what? Heads don't vibrate as much as the bike, so with this eyeglass mirror objects are much much MUCH clearer than they were before. The mounting is very secure on this mirror when they're attached to plastic-framed sunglasses. I haven't tried them with wire-rimmed glasses, I'd be cautious as the connection is very solid so may bend wire bows. The mirror is easy to adjust and with only a very slight head turn you can see the entire road behind you. I feel so much safer now. The company has a great warranty against breakage too, only $2 to replace. I'll never mount a mirror on my bike again!
Customer Review: Don't leave home without it Sport shop rating: 5 Stars
I've tried a number of them, and this is the best of the eyeglass mirrors unless you're able to find one of those handmade Chuck Harris cycling mirrors. I've never tried one of those, so I can't say whether the Take-a-look is better or worse, but it's certainly better than any of the widely available commercial mirrors. It's easy to fit to glasses or a helmet visor (unless you wear ultra-thin titanium frames), adjusts six ways from Sunday, and has a wide field of vision. It took me about three days to get used to an eyeglass-mounted mirror instead of a Blackburn multi-mirror mounted on the end of my handlebar stem, but at this point I'd never go back. The Take-a-look provides a better field of vision, is immune to bouncing and jostling as you ride, and by turning your head just slightly you can get a 120 degree view of everything behind you. Yeah, it looks a little dorky, but I'll take safety over dorklessness every time.
Customer Review: Best clip-on available Sport shop rating: 5 Stars
By far, this is the best-of-breed. For the extra $3-$4 dollars, it is head-and-shoulders above the cheap plastic "Third Eye Eyeglass Mirror" brand. I've owned 2 "Third Eye Eyeglass Mirror" units and both of them broke rather easily. The little plastic tabs don't flex very much so if your glass frames are thick at all, they will break from stress in a pretty short time. The mirror on the "Third Eye" brand is rather small and although it is usable, it pales in comparison to the "Bike Peddler" brand. The "Bike Peddler" mirror provides an outstanding and very clear view and is easily adjustable. The frame is all metal and well made. The holding tabs are metal and are wrapped in plastic to provide a solid grip on your eyeglass frames.
I heartily recommend this device. You won't be disappointed and they are well worth the extra couple of dollars over the much cheaper competition.
