Betty Gayle has been winning rodeo championships since 1964 , when at the age of 12 she won the world championship in junior calf roping. Betty Gayle has just been inducted into the National Cowgirl Hall of Fame and Western Heritage Center. In College rodeo, she has been the break-away champion from 1971 to 1974, the All Around Cowgirl from 1972-1974 and the Goat Tying Champion from 1972-1974. As a member of the Women's Professional Rodeo Association, she was World Champion Calf Roper in 1979,1981,1982,1983 and Reserve Calf Roper in 1985. She was named as All-Around Cowgirl in 1981, 1982 and 1983. For several years Betty Gayle has been Coach of the Rodeo team at Southeastern Oklahoma State University in Durant, Oklahoma. She is also the Director of Equestrian Studies at this University. In this video, Betty Gayle teaches comprehensive step-by-step methods of training for both goat tying and break-away roping. Betty Galye explains in a simple and easy to understand style. She demonstrates with both goats and calves and critiques her students roping performances.
