Sports reviews of BandIT Therapeutic Forearm Band

Customer Review: BandIT Works Well
Sport shop rating: 5 Stars

I developed tennis elbow from, of all things, excessive, uninterrupted mouse utilization while doing Internet research. Based on Internet reviews and healthcare sites, the forearm band seemed to be a simple fix. Indeed, it was. The BandIT's outer, rigid plastic shell supports a soft rubber pad that is placed over the offending muscle/ligament group. By doing so, the band absorbs most of the muscle energy that would otherwise be transferred to the ligament and its point of insertion on the humerus' lateral epicondyle. Regardless of the many, varied recommendations as to placement (some measured from the elbow, some from the crook of the arm/forearm), I experimented until I found that point at which I felt the most pressure on the muscle from the band when I made a fist (for me about 3-1/2 inches from the tip of the elbow). Unlike elastic bands or straps that completely encircle the forearm, the BandIT's Velcro retention strap does not interfere with circulation. Finally, the rubber pads do not absorb sweat so the odor noted in some reviews with other products was not an issue.

Customer Review: Great product, just what I needed
Sport shop rating: 5 Stars

After trying a cheap (cheaply made, not priced) tennis elbow brace from the sporting goods store, I poked around online to see if I could find something better. The reviews on Amazon and elsewhere seemed to be overwhelmingly positive for the Band-It, so I ordered it. My one reservation was that it looks kind of cheap from the pictures and I was worried that it may not be comfortable.

It arrived in the mail a few days later and I've been using it for my last 4 matches. I love it. I know that you're not supposed to rely long term on a brace like this (you're supposed to rehabilitate through stretching and building the supporting muscle groups) - but wearing the brace really seems to help.

What I like about it is that it's a very simple design but the firm plastic back and attached rubber pad allow me to create the pressure right where it feels most comfortable and with the precise amount of force that I want. Adjustments are easy enough to make. I can tune it between points without interrupting the flow of the match.

Customer Review: I'm Golfing Again with the Band-It Elbow Support
Sport shop rating: 5 Stars

I golf four to five times a week, but had to stop completely because of left elbow and forearm pain. I had tried the conventional elbow braces with the gel pad, but my condition got progressively worse. After I received the Band-It support, I noticed an improvement in a couple days. I wore the brace all day long. After about a week, I was able to make some moderate golf swings.

Although I'm not completely healed after three weeks of using the Band-It support, I am able to resume my normal golf schedule with some swing modifications. For example, I am careful not to take huge divots because I'm sure that would aggravate my arm. I do tighten the support more when I'm golfing than for general wear. At this point, I feel confident that continued use of the Band-It support will help to prevent a similar injury in the future.

I would certainly recommend this product for anyone with elbow and/or forearm pain caused by repetitive stress type of activity. It does seem to be working for me.

Customer Review: Finally, one that works!
Sport shop rating: 5 Stars

As a computer programmer, I spend many hours a day at the keyboard. A change in office furniture 20 years ago resulted in a really bad case of 'tennis elbow'. While I have had some luck with adjusting keyboard height and angle, too much damage was done to ever fully recover from it. I have used the cloth 'strap' types of elbow support for 20 years, with ever increasing frustration. Either they slide down my arm, the velcro stops sticking even when cleaned out, causing it to constantly come undone, or the velcro gets stuck to the sleeve material. And the pain never quite goes away.

That said, I can't say enough good things about this unit. For the first time, I am actually pain free the entire time I wear this. It stays in place and the velcro strap does not catch in my clothing. I highly recommend it to others who suffer from too much typing. Do make every attempt to make your workplace ergonomically correct, but if you are like me and it is too late to undo the damage, buy this product!

Customer Review: Tennis, fishing, computer elbow -- it works!
Sport shop rating: 5 Stars

I played tennis in school (until 1974) then started fishing a lot and I work on a computer. All of those activities caused pain in my elbow that got increasingly more debilitating over the years. Anybody that ever had a real bad episode of tennis elbow knows it can bring tears to your eyes.

So I read the reviews here and bought a bandit even though I was skeptical. Well it works. It really works or I wouldn't be wasting my once limited computer time by typing here.

At first it was uncomfortable, difficult to put on in just the right position. But after 6 months I just don't touch my mouse unless my BandIt is on my arm. And I frequently find I am still wearing it when I don't need it, I just forget it's there.

It's been 6 months and I've had no arm pain. And I know from experience that I have pushed well beyond my limits. If I did not have this aid I would be having lots of pain, taking lots of Aleve.
