Description of Aquamira Frontier Emergency Water Filter SystemThe ultra-light and compact Aquamira Frontier Filter easily slips into a day pack, shirt pocket or travel luggage and is always ready when you need it. Use the Frontier Filter to drink from any bottle, cup or directly from water sources. McNett customer care @ 1-800-221-7325 (or) www.mcnett.com Ideal for hiking, travel, and emergency preparedness, the Aquamira Frontier emergency water filter system is the perfect addition to your 72-hour emergency kit. The Frontier filter's proprietary blend of microscopic carbon, binder and antimicrobial particles is tested and certified to remove more than 99.9 percent of cryptosporidium and Giardia while also helping improve water taste and eliminate odors. At the same time, the filter is also easy to operate: just attach and expand the straw, submerge the filter end into the water source, and drink through the straw. It's just like drinking soda from a cup or bottle, or you can even drink directly from a water source, such as a stream or lake. And at less than 1 ounce, the Frontier slips easily into a daypack, shirt pocket, or travel bag, so it's always ready when you need it. A single Frontier unit filters up to 20 gallons (75 liters) of water. Aquamira's Filtration Technology Aquamira's blend of filtration particles is heated beyond the melting point of the binder material until the particles adhere to each other in a process called "sintering." The result is a highly porous, carbon-impregnated filter block with a tightly controlled pore structure. Aquamira Filtration Technology incorporates both mechanical and absorptive filtration processes to remove both physical and chemical contaminants. Although the Frontier filter does reduce bacterial and viruses, it is not certified to remove the more than 99.9999 percent of bacteria and 99.99 percent of viruses required by the U.S. EPA water purifier standard. For maximum protection, use the Frontier in conjunction with water treatment drops or water purifier tablets. About Aquamira Aquamira water treatment drops were introduced to the outdoor market in 1999, and have been a favorite of top outdoor guides and instructors ever since. The original idea was simple--people should be able to drink water anywhere, and the water should be safe to drink, taste good, and be easy to treat. This idea inspired the company's research team to develop the technology for a variety of portable drinking water systems and a line of water treatment products that effectively treat water in all kinds of environments, including when camping, traveling in a foreign country, or faced with a disaster. More recently, Aquamira has expanded its vision to include providing basic life-preserving items for both individuals and groups, such as villages in developing countries. Aquamira is headquartered in Logan, Utah.
Sports reviews of Aquamira Frontier Emergency Water Filter SystemCustomer Review: Better to have and not need... Sport shop rating: 5 Stars
The Aquamira Frontier Emergency Water Filter System is one of those items that is better to have and not need than to need and not have. Hopefully you would never be in a situation to need this product but if you do it is a great last resort filtration system. If given the opportunity I would still prefer to boil water, use water filtration tablets or even a higher quality filter. But, if this is all I have I am still good to go!
This system is very light, doesn't take up much room, is simple to use and priced within everyones budget. It can filter up to about 20 gallons which means that it will last a very long time. It wouldn't be a bad idea to keep one of these in all of your packs.
Customer Review: you don't have this yet? :) Sport shop rating: 5 Stars
ok, here's the deal. put this in your wish list...next time you need some $$ to get up to the free shipping...add one. then keep doing that until everyone in your family has one of these for their emergency pack.
Tablets are great and light, but still a pain to use. boiling is best, but sometimes you just can't. this is less than an ounce! It's not perfect, but it's so small and light...it will be WITH YOU when you need it. better safe than sorry. It will taste bad initially (carbon) but just spit out the first few draws and you'll be fine.
Customer Review: Great little filter Sport shop rating: 5 Stars
For the price, portability and weight of this filter, Aquamira has hit a home run
for all who enjoy the outdoors. Have used it in many sources of water, delta to high sierras, no problems whatsoever. great for ultralight camping, treking, safety, emergency preparedness and even all around just fun toy for the kids, this filter seems to be a fantastic way to assure a form of clean rehydration when and if necassary.(please be a wise guardian with your children when I mention it as a toy for them, they need to be guided in life and safety and that's your job.)
Customer Review: An Absolute Must! Sport shop rating: 5 Stars
This thing is great. You can drink from a mud puddle and it still taste clean. One time I was camping and it started raining so I threw up the poncho and put my metal cup out to collect water. Well pigment from the poncho came off since it hadn't been used before, as well as smoke that had collected. I tasted the water pre filter and it was foul, undrinkable. but with the filter it was clean and cold. My friend tried the filter and said yeah taste like water, then I had him taste the unfiltered stuff and he just about puked lol
Customer Review: very practical Sport shop rating: 5 Stars
I have two of these and one of the "pro" version. I keep one in my car kit, one in my dayhike kit and the pro goes in the family minivan, mainly because it is rated to filter more water.
I love having multiple methods of making water clean to drink, so this filter is always paired with a guyot designs stainless steel bottle and water treatment tablets, in order to have multiple options, depending on the situation. On overnights, I carry a steripen as a primary purification method and the rest are all backups.
