Sports reviews of Altus Athletic ADCUB Deluxe Chin Up, Pull Up, Sit Up BarCustomer Review: It's a bar... Sport shop rating: 4 Stars
It has sturdy construction, solid installation, the grips are a little weak (they tear after a few weeks of use) but overall it's a good little pullup bar. It has but one fatal flaw... in order for it to work, you must use it.
Customer Review: Exactly what I wanted Sport shop rating: 4 Stars
Easy installation. The screws that came with it were lightweight, but worked well when installed by a drill. The padding for the bar is effective and adjustable. This product was just what I was looking for...
Customer Review: Good pull up bar, but things to look out for Sport shop rating: 3 Stars
I purchased this pull up bar about a month ago on amazon and it is working alright so far. The bar is sturdy and can hold a lot of weight. When I was installing it, it did not fit in the first doorway I tried - make sure the part of the door frame you are putting it in is at least 2 and 3/8ths inches wide. If you are using it for multiple exercises such as pull ups and then sit ups, (with brackets by the floor) beware the bar is very difficult to put in and take out of the brackets.
Customer Review: so far, so good Sport shop rating: 3 Stars
Got this for my son for his doorway. The hardware almost didn't fit in his door jam but found a way to make it work. They need to come up with a better material for the hand grips (the 2 black areas in the product photo). It is like a rubber foam type thing that rubs off, or starts to fall apart with use, leaving little black specks on the floor. Other than that it's great.
Customer Review: Solid but a pain Sport shop rating: 2 Stars
Okay, it's very sturdy if mounted properly. And the little turning rivets in the brackets keep it from ever slipping out in use. The little rivets rotate down and LOCCk the pentagram shaped end in place.
HOWEVER... how many people have ever had the problem of a chin-up bar slipping UP and off the brackets while in use? I think this is a feature put in more for liability purposes than any real-world need.
The upshot is, you have to wrestle with the thing EVERY single time you take it down. Since I have it up in a regular doorway we need to use, this is a serious drawback. The mechanism is very effective -- meaning it just fights you every time you want to take it down. It's not a lot of fun and frankly not something you would want to wrestle with every day. Get one of the bars with a round-end, unless you're prepared to leave the bar up pretty much indefinitely.
