Sports reviews of Aerobie AeroPress Coffee and Espresso - w/zippered nylon tote bagCustomer Review: Finally figured it out! Sport shop rating: 3 Stars
My original review is below... unfortunately Amazon doesn't let you upgrade your star rating, because I want to upgrade mine to a 5-star review. The problem was the coffee grounds (that I got from the coffee shop, custom ground) were too fine. So I started using my own cheap little Mr. Coffee grinder, and have had no problems since.
The major downsides to this is that you can only make a cup at a time, and you end up using a lot more coffee than you would with an automatic drip, but I care more about good flavor, so I'm willing to give up certain things. One full pound of coffee beans lasts me one week (drinking 2 cups a day), and for me it is still cheaper than what I was spending at the coffee shop every day! I'm actually going to buy another one so I can have one at home and one at work.
2.5 stars....
I am having a lot of trouble pushing the canister down. No matter what I do I still feel a LOT of resistance. Everyone says it should be smooth and to push slow and steady but no matter how fast or slow I push I still get way too much resistance! I'll probably end up buying a French press.
As for the coffee, it's smooth, though I still haven't been able to figure out how to make it stronger (there is a LOT of trial and error involved with this thing), so you have to play around with different measurements of coffee and water until you get the taste you want.
I appreciate the idea of the AeroPress but I can't get a straight answer as to why I'm experiencing such difficulty. If anyone has suggestions, please let me know, because I'm not having any success with the directions that came with it.
