As an earlier reviewer said, there really isn't too much one can say about a jump rope is there? Having stated the obvious, this "Buddy Lee Aero Speed Rope", despite the somewhat high price tag, really is worth the money!
This rope is lightning fast- much faster than a standard speed rope which I can only put down to the highly efficient bearing loaded patented design handles since the actual cord is just standard PVC like all speed ropes. Prior to purchasing this rope I was using a "standard" Everlast speed rope and was achieving decent speeds but after upgrading to this Aero Speed rope I am amazing myself at the speeds I am achieving (around 540- give or take- rotations in each 3 minute round- 3 rotations per second). It's now only my cardiovascular conditioning that is preventing me from reaching the standards Buddy suggests aiming for (I also have his book) whereas prior to this purchase, I believe it was a combination of both my fitness and the "average" rope I was using.
The quality of construction seems to be very high although I have only had the rope for around a week and earlier reviewers have commented on the ropes tendency to snap with prolonged use- time will tell. I think the included spanner is a bit of a gimmick and probably unnecessary but hey, whatever.
Anyway, five stars from me. Well made and very, very fast. Really that's all you can ask for in a jump rope isn't it?
* UPDATE 5th December '08: In my quest for faster and faster jump ropes I have been experimenting with a few and I now recommend this rope [...] instead of the Buddy Lee Aero Speed rope. Seriously, the Buddy Lee rope is like swinging a piece of garden hose through the air compared to this thing. It is lightning fast, incredibly light and has practically zero friction (far superior to the ball bearing design of the Buddy Lee ropes) in the handles whilst turning because of the fast turning metal dowel enclosed within the handle itself. The speeds you can reach with this rope are not comparable with anything else on the market. 180+ rotations a minute is EASY with this rope. It is MUCH faster, cheaper and better than the Buddy Lee Aero Speed rope and for anyone serious about speed jumping, I strongly recommend you go this route and save yourself some money.
