I am a total kettlebell fanatic. That is because I am a total couch potato who, about 5 years ago, decided to use kettlebells. These kettlebells have been a revelation to me, as a total couch potato. I am 67 years old, and about 5 years ago, I started exercising with a 12 kg bell (26 lbs), and it was a revelation. A half-year ago, I transitioned to the 15 kg bell (35 lb), and it was also a revelation.
I have a friend who is battling osteoporosis, and I am confident that introducing the kettlebell to her could ameliorate her pain. This 10 lb bell is the beginning, and I am hoping to introduce more.
I, myself, nearly succumbed to loss of physical vitality. But I discovered the kettlebells, and I have been able to scrabble up from the depths to a new sense of what it is to be alive. There is nothing else in my experience that is even remotely able to do what the kettlebells do.
The ultimate kettlebell exercise is "The Swing." I do a hundred swings with the 35 lb (16 kg) bell. I am left after that with gasping of breath, and a sense that if I can do this today, I can live another tomorrow. Obviously, there will come a time that I cannot do the 100 swings, and perhaps tomorrow will see my demise.
In the interim, go with these very nice kettlebells. When they no longer serve, you can shift to another stage of existence, whatever that is.
